The Bonnaroo line-up was announced, and although the rumors of David Bowie and Daft Punk were bunk – this year’s festival still has a lot of potential: Mumford & Sons, Sleigh Bells, My Morning Jacket, Scissor Sisters, Robyn, Bootsy Collins, Girl Talk, Wanda Jackson, and my even my boyfriend, Eminem!

I’m pretty jazzed about Lil’ Wayne, as he’s playing Atlanta soon with Travis Barker and Nicki Minaj. I was planning on taking a trip to see it, but I just might wait for the festival. Hopefully, Barker and Minaj will be in tow.

Although the annoucement didn’t punch me in the face like 2009′s did, I have a feeling 2011′s Bonnaroo is going to result numerous musical discoveries for me. I might even leave in love with Arcade Fire. Who knows?

Anyways, after the jump, is the wide-range of talent for the Class of ’11 compiled by the good people at Nashville Cream. If you love Bonnaroo, you should definitely follow their blog, because their Bonnaroo coverage is outstanding every year. As of now, we are still waiting for the comedy line-up.

Also, visit NPR for a great audio interview with Bonnaroo Co-Founder Ashley Capps.

I went to Bonnaroo in 2009, and although I didn't know the majority of the bands on the lineup, I left the festival with new favorite bands, and a better sense of self. I had never been to a music festival before, and I had one of those "I'm right where I am supposed to be" moments. As I left the camp grounds to the sounds of Phish playing their Sunday night encore performance, I was already planning my 2010 trip.
That year came and went, and I soon found myself with the familiar sights of the Bonnaroo archway, smells of the porta-potties, and the sounds of music. After another euphoric weekend, I couldn't wait for the highly advertised "10 Year Bonnaroo Anniversary." Like Chrystal, I was a little disappointed with the announcement of the highly anticipated artist lineup. Hoping for one huge headliner that would most definitely make me literally jump out of my computer chair, such as Paul McCartney or the Rolling Stones, I was let down. But Arcade Fire is definitely easing the fresh wound of disappointment.
However disheartened I was that I was not blown away, it is still not enough to make me defriend my Bonnaroo life-companion. In the end, Bonnaroo is an escape that allows you to enjoy yourself, nature (despite the heat), and most of all music from all genres.
Sorry youtellconcerts.com! I just wrote you a short essay. But I have been following your reviews since 2009. You know, when I was first born into the wonderful world of music. You all always have such fresh perspectives and interviews! Keep up the good work!
