This was my ninth time seeing the Foo Fighters, and I couldn’t have been more excited. I had seen the Foo Fighters twice before at The Forum and sufficiently had my face rocked off. I had also seen the Foo Fighters twice earlier this year, once at Spaceland and once at the Troubadour.
The Foo Fighters def rocked their small club shows, but I was much more excited for this show then those. The Foo Fighters are and Arena Rock band, and there isn’t a better arena to rock than The Forum.

Foo Fighters @ The Forum Concert Review
I arrived to the Forum just in time to catch the last few songs from Cage The Elephant and was delighted to find that Dave Grohl was on drums. Cage The Elephant’s drummer, Jared Champion, appendix had burst earlier in the week and was unable to play. Grohl was kind enough to step up and learn a few of the band’s songs.
It’s always cool to see Grohl on drums and added to the specialness of this show for me. I dug Cage The Elephant, but wish I would have gotten to The Forum a bit early and caught the whole thing.
The Foo Fighters hit the Forum like a hurricane and opened the set up with “Bridge Burning” and “Rope” off their new album, “Wasting Light,” before going into their hits, “The Pretender,” “My Hero,” and “Learn To Fly”. The Foo Fighters did a great job of working their new tracks in with their hits.
Although I loved the Foo Fighters album, “Wasting Light” from the get-go, this show allowed me to further appreciate it. After looking at the set-list, it is nearly impossible for me to pick out a track that wasn’t amazing live. I did think it pretty cool of the Foo Fighters to cover Pink Floyd’s “In The Flesh” ? and Tom Petty and the Hearbreakers,’ “Breakdown.”
One of my favorite parts of the show was during “Monkey Wrench.” Halfway through the song, the band slowed down and Grohl began to tell a story about seeing Prince at the Forum during his 21-night stand.
After one of the shows, Grohl was brought back to meet the Purple One himself and was later invited to come jam with Prince at the Forum. After Grohl had wowed us with his awesome Prince tale, he told us how during Prince’s performance, he would bring all of the lights in the house down, because he felt that people were being to self-conscious and not dancing enough.
Grohl then dedicated the song to Prince and brought every light in the house down before busting back into the rest of “Monkey Wrench.” I won’t lie; throughout Grohl’s entire Prince story, I was dreaming like I have never dreamed before that Prince would take the stage with the Foo Fighters. Alas, Prince did not take the stage.
All in all, this was one of the best shows I have seen this year. The Foo Fighters def rocked it, although I wish they would have mixed the setlist up for their show the next night. I though it was kind of strange that they wouldn’t even change the song order in the slightest.
I can’t give them too much crap though, because the Foo Fighters rocked my face off both nights at The Forum. If you haven’t seen the Foo Fighters, you are missing out.
If you have seen the Foo Fighters before, or were at this show, make sure to comment on this post and let us know what you thought…because we want to know, and “When You Tell Concerts…It’s Cooler” – poppinoff
