Countdown to Next Big Nashville

Next Big Nashville is only two weeks away, and I am really excited about it. The event started in 2006 as a way to promote Nashville’s local talent, and has blossomed into a four day festival showcasing over 140 bands at 12 venues throughout Nashville. I hear shuttles are even provided. Party on!

I’m even more pumped about the conference portion of NBN, which is presented by The Recording Academy and EMMA. In an era where a band can create a name and buzz for them selves by using low-cost (or free) tools online, musicians find they are not only playing an instrument; they are booking agents, promoters, web designers, and creative marketing wizards.

This conference gives the little guys a chance to participate in the panel experience and learn helpful tips needed to make it in the industry. AND – it doesn’t cost the $600 registration fee that the big conferences charge.

For $100, a VIP badge will get you into all the shows, great VIP networking events (Nashville Music Awards, Indie Impact Mixer, Gibson VIP Reception, BMI/Gibson VIP Brunch), the NBN conference, and even…yes, a goodie bag.

Oh, and today, there was a promo code emailed to receive $25 off a VIP Badge: SPNBN

There couldn’t be a better time or place for this festival, and before you know it – this thing is going to blow up – showing everyone that Nashville isn’t just Country music. I think this experience is one that many LA and NYC folks could benefit from. Go now, while it’s still down to its roots and dirt cheap.

I’ll be covering the event, so keep checking back for photos, posts, and footage.

I ran into you outside of Five Spot and last night and rambled a bit about The Distribution soul band from Chattanooga and Goodbye Sons from Grassy Cove (I’m the Sons drummer). Anyway found yr card in my wallet and was curious just how goofy I came off in that video.
