It had been a few years since I had seen Death Cab For Cutie live. Although I had seen them several times before, for some reason or another, I didn’t know what to expect. I hadn’t listened to Death Cab For Cutie since I last saw them at the Hollywood Bowl in 2009, with the exception of catching a song on the radio here and there. Regardless, I was excited to see Death Cab For Cutie again and knew their performance at the Greek was not to be missed.

Death Cab For Cutie @ The Greek Theatre Concert Review
It’s always a treat to see a show at The Greek Theatre. It’s the perfect size and the audio quality is always superb. Death Cab For Cutie was no exception and sounded flawless throughout their set. I was surprised how many people were actually at this show, as Death Cab For Cutie had played the Greek the night before, and the show didn’t seem to be that hot of a ticket.
Death Cab For Cutie played a fantastic set that featured songs both old and new. No matter what song Death Cab For Cutie was performing, I found myself mesmerized by their music. Death Cab For Cutie’s sound is just so genuine and real, it’s pretty hard to not get into them – especially, when seeing them live. I couldn’t believe how many Death Cab For Cutie songs I knew. Even though I hadn’t heard some of the songs they performed for years, the words suddenly came rushing back to me as Death Cab For Cutie played them.
My highlights from Death Cab For Cutie’s set include: “I Will Possess Your Heart,” “Photobooth,” ” Long Division,” “I Will Follow You into the Dark,” “You Are A Tourist,” “Why You’d Want to Live Here,” “Soul Meets Body,” “The Sound Of Settling,” and “405.”
The entire evening was delightful, although, I wish the crowd would have been more active. Everyone in attendance had a bit of a problem grooving to the tunes of Death Cab For Cutie. It might just be me, but I def think Death Cab For Cutie’s songs are worth dancing to. A lot of the crowd was standing throughout Death Cab For Cutie’s set, but it seemed as if they were afraid to shake their groove things.
In closing, I am really glad that I got to see Death Cab For Cutie again and extremely glad that I got to see them at the Greek. One thing that really impressed me about this show was how many die hard Death Cab For Cutie fans there were. For some reason, I didn’t expect them to have so many. As per usual, I tracked down a good chunk of people after the show to see what they thought of Death Cab For Cutie, but in addition to that, Death Cab For Cutie fans actually tracked me down to do interviews about the show.
I have to say it was pretty cool having people come up to me wanting to talk about a band, versus me having to chase people down after a show just to get a few words about a band. I have to recommend checking out Death Cab For Cutie. They deliver a high quality performance, and do a great job of catering to their fans. -lorn
