Chrystal catches her boys New Kids on the Block at the Sommet Center in Nashville, TN and gets fan reviews of the show! Part 1
Where’s the Closest Waffle House?
This year, I have been to five NKOTB performances: The Today Show rehearsal at the House of Blues in LA, the sneak peek performance and listening party at S.I.R Studios in LA, and concerts in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and this week in Nashville. Back in the day (age 10 or so), I think I went to 3 concerts.
Who’s that leaning on the stage, fanning herself due to Donnie’s overwhelming hotness? Oh, me!
And then there was this:
Growing up a Massachusetts girl, I somehow felt that because we had that local connection, Donnie would make me his wifey. I thought about them all the time. I’d roller skate in my basement nightly to their tapes. I remember one concert where Donnie flew over the audience and stuck his tongue out, which of course, I thought was directly at me. I had this hideous fluorescent pink shirt with a silk-screened picture of me cut out and pasted next to a picture of Joey. I got it at this really skeezy beach in New Hampshire called Hampton Beach. It was ridiculous.
Now that we are all older, I really respect the “face time” the boys are giving the fans. It’s like “No Fan Left Behind.” Everyone has the opportunity to meet them with these special 5 star meet and greet packages. They have this cruise to the Bahamas coming up in May, where they will be performing for and mingling with the fans. If you can’t shell out the dough for these experiences, go to the closet Waffle House or Denny’s after a show. The boys have been known to drop-in every now and then -very cool of them. Then again, we are very cool to them.
NKOTB are keeping the blog and videos updated on their site, and the NKOTB social network is a great way for fans to brag about their encounters (and feel a little less insane about their obsession).
I am so impressed with the guys. They look great, and sound pretty damn good. I think the video projections need an upgrade. Some of them look like the custom screensavers you can make for your desktop in Windows. Really though, who’s looking at the screen? It’s all about the boys. They are so fun on stage: conversational, relaxed, funny, and super sexy.
Donnie is wicked hot. He’s getting skinner every time I see him. At the Nashville concert, when they finished the 2nd stage set, he jumped into the crowd, grabbed someone’s beer, and downed it.
God, I love that man!
As for the crowd, there were a lot of empty seats compared to the other shows I’ve seen, but the floor was still shaking and it was LOUD! Good job Nashville…the boys loved you!
Earlier in the day, before the show, a bank robbery occurred at a bank next to the Hutton Hotel. News reporters made sure to mention that NKOTB was staying at that hotel. A group of girls were waiting outside the hotel when my husband and I drove by on our lunch break. After the show there were girls waiting by the side entrances and by the garage where the busses were. I was hanging with some fellow fans, waiting for my ride when a car pulled up: a man driving, a kid in the backseat, and woman popped out of the passenger window, “Where’s the closest Waffle House?”
Please Don’t Go, NKOTB – you could ruin our whole world!
PS…Shot out to the fans that waited with me until my ride came, and let me use their cell. How do I get myself in those situations? – Chrystal
