Guy and I decided to do a little research for Bonnaroo, and caught Stardeath and White Dwarfs at Exit/In on Monday. Stardeath will be joining The Flaming Lips in performing Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon at next month’s festival, and it’s going to be RADICAL! (Watch for those balloons during “Money.”)

and the relatives - "Nice Stache"
There were a couple options for Monday night, but this bill showed a lot of promise. Fly Golden Eagle came highly recommended, and I discovered the chill, peppy rock of “and the relatives” (I think their name is supposed to be lower case) at Next Big Nashville last year and have seen them a couple times since.
In an effort to stay creative with my reviews:
For ten bucks, this was kind of like the value meal of concerts; but one that was made with love, not thrown together. I was pleased to find that my Fly Golden Eagle fries were fresh, crispy, not-to-hot, not-to-cold. My everyday, bland Diet Coke was upgraded to a tasty chocolate shake that I knew I’d love – “and the relatives.” Then, Stardeath and White Dwarfs were the McTrippy Deluxe sandwich that flirts with your neurological fuses, and gives you a natural high. No mind-altering substances necessary…but, can you imagine if they were involved? Wowie Zowie!

Stardeath and White Dwarfs
Yeah…I just compared the show to fast food. Now that I think of it, coincidentally, so was the show. Fast, I mean.
All ridiculousness aside, it did move quickly, which I’m not going to complain about on a work night. I could’ve used a few more songs from Stardeath, but since the opening bands were good, I didn’t feel gypped. It’s always nice to leave a show wanting to see every band on the lineup again.

Fly Golden Eagle
Having never seen them before, Fly Golden Eagle was a highlight for me. They hit the groove right on, and put me in one of those hippie “dazed off” states. I like those.
I saw an event notice somewhere on Facebook that they are playing a Nashville house party of sorts soon – so keep your eyes peeled for that.
Random funny audience moments: (besides me totally biting it in front of the whole venue – scuffing both my knee and my ego. *cringe* )
* Someone yelled “Nice Stache” when and the relatives came on stage. (It really is a sweet stache.)
* The slow clap during Fly Golden Eagle making a moment of awkwardness quite comfortable. Well-Played.
