YAY! Dreams really can come true! I am a huge Weezer fan to say the least. These guys were definitely a big part of the foundation of my musical life. From the first time I saw the Buddy Holly video till this very moment right now I have been a Weezer fan. Getting to see them preform is always a treat for me, but seeing them preform the entire Blue Album that’s a mega treat!

The show started off with a 10 song greatest hits set that ran through Weezers singles from recent releases  such as “Memories” all the way down to Pinkertons “Falling For You.” It was a giant sing along fest. I honestly wasn’t sure if I was going to have a voice left by the time the band made it to the Blue Album.

One of the coolest things that happened during the greatest hits set was a duet of  “(If Your Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To” with Rivers and Jorge Garcia (Hurly from Lost).  It was just cool to see Jorge incorporated in to the set.

After the greatest hits set was finished, there was a short intermission.  During this break we were graced with a vintage Weezer slide show hosted by Karl Koch, Weezers long time friend and historian. It sure was neat getting to see posters and pics of the guys before they hit it big.

The band returned to the stage and began to preform the Blue Album. It was interesting to see the band preform songs that have not been played for years. It was obvious what songs the band had been playing for years (Buddy Holly, Undone, Say It Ain’t So) as they were far more complex then the original recordings. Then their were songs like ” The World Has Turned And Left Me Here” which the band hadn’t preformed since 1996 that were far less polished and obviously recently relearned.

The only thing that was disapointing about the show was that the band didnt preform any B Sides or do an encore. Nonetheless, all and all this was a great show and I sang along to every song. I hope Weezer decides to continue preforming full albums in the future. Can’t wait to see these guys again and if you are a fan make sure not to miss out. -lorn
