Chrystal catches Duff McKagans Loaded at the Cannery Ballroom and gets fan reviews of the show.
A group of us went out to the Cannery on Saturday to see Duff McKagan’s Loaded. It was a simple show, but fun. I was disappointed with the crowd. They didn’t even give it a chance. It seemed like most of the people there won their tickets through the radio station that promoted the concert. They got all dolled up in hillbilly gear, sauced up on “drink specials,” (Do Jack and Cokes usually cost more than $6 at the Cannery? What is this? LA?) and then walked out during Loaded.
If they stuck around for a bit, they would’ve have gotten the covers they came for. Sorry, I’m a little bitter. I get it though, this crowd wasn’t in the mood to train their ears to new Duff music, they wanted something familiar. I’ll be the first to admit that I thought the music on the Myspace sounded, for lack of another word, “pussy” the first listen through. Honestly, I think it was just the way the album was produced, because the songs were much more rockin’ live.
I do think Duff’s mic needed to be boosted up a bit, but overall, it was a good time. Glad I went!
