Bryan and Lorn head out to the hipster capitol of the world, Spaceland in Silver Lake, California, to catch an amazing band from Sweden, Miike Snow.
Both Lorn and I were almost entirely ignorant of who or what the artists referred to as Miike Snow actually was all about, but after arriving at Spaceland it quickly became apparent that there was a lot of substance backing the buzz behind this band.
They were having trouble getting the hoards of Los Angeles hipsters in the door fast enough to see the band’s scheduled 10 o’clock set time. Fortunately for us (hating to wait in lines) Miike Snow (which we learned is not an actual name of any one in the band) waited for everyone who came to see them to get inside the venue before beginning their set. (We even got a chance to talk to Pontus Winnberg before they headed in.)
Once we were inside the packed club, the band began immediately and the show was compelling from start to finish. I was very pleased with the performance, even with all the buzz and hype currently surrounding the band, they exceeded my expectations. Spaceland could work on ambiance though. – Bryan
