I have to be honest, I wasn’t sure what to expect from The Monkees live. I knew they were old and were essentially the Backstreet Boys and NKOTB of the 60′s, but when it came down to it – this was a show that I just couldn’t miss.

The Monkees @ The Greek concert review
I didn’t grow up with The Monkees TV show, but constantly rocked out to the songs of The Monkees more than enough throughout my life to be excited for this show. I had spent a good portion of my childhood jumping around to Monkees hits such as “I’m A Believer” and “Daydream Believer.” I was ready to see a good old-fashioned Pop show. Well, an old-fashioned Pop show isn’t exactly what I got.
The Monkees stuck to their guns and based the majority of their stage show around The Monkees TV show from the 60′s. The antics were overly-staged and written, but gave the show a sitcom feel. It was very entertaining.
Peter played the dope that constantly was setting up Davy and Micky with lines. Davy was diplomatic and did a great job of leading the story, and Micky was the one who was ready to get down and have a good time. In addition to “monkee-ing” around onstage, The Monkees also sounded pretty good and and put a lot of energy into their set.
The one thing that caught me off guard about this show was The Monkees’ deep tracks that were performed. I didn’t know that The Monkees had written well over 20 psychedelic tracks. I had always just thought that The Monkees only performed cheesy Pop songs. In reality, they had actually written some seriously trippy stuff.
I was also shocked that they played for over 2 hours and performed 41 songs. Highlights from The Monkee’s Greek set include “I’m a Believer,” ” Look Out (Here She Comes Now),” ” All of Your Toys,” “Girl,” “Last Train to Clarksville,” ” A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You,” ” (I’m Not Your) Steppin’ Stone,” ” Daydream Believer,” and ” Pleasant Valley Sunday.”
I will most likely not see The Monkees again, simply due to the fact they are all getting old , and this tour is in celebration of their 45th anniversary! They will most likely never tour again. I do have to say that if you were ever a fan of The Monkees, you need to make sure to catch this tour, as it could very likely be your last chance to relive some of your fondest childhood memories. – lorn
