This year’s “We the People” Festival will be taking place on Saturday, September 27th from 2:00 PM to midnight at the Los Angeles State Historical Park. Featuring an impressive array of music’s most inspiring artists, such as world class musician and bassist from PRIMUS, Les Claypool, WU TANG CLAN’s the RZA, from RAGE AGAINST the MACHINE, Tom Morello performing as the Nightwatchman and L.A. based punk rock legends SUICIDAL TENDENCIES. This socially conscious and politically charged event will feature speakers such as anti-war activist, Cindy Sheehan and Green Party presidential nominee; Cynthia McKinney .The festival will feature multiple stages of entertainment, education and enlightenment. Tickets for this all ages event are on sale now.
“We the People” are the first three words of the United States Constitution which brought together a framework for all law and government in the U.S. and it is the “We the People” Festival which will remind us that we are the people who can make change and to “Stand up, Speak up, Unite!” Orlando Padilla, the creator of the “We the People” Festival says, “I passionately believe that the real power to improve our world rests within the people. By gathering artists, speakers and all like-minded individuals dedicated to making change, we the people, can lead to major social impact that will improve the quality of life for people around the world.”
The artists and speakers at “We the People” will vary in genre and political viewpoints to encourage a diverse gathering of individuals. Additional artists on the bill include: Dilated Peoples, Shavo Odadjian (System of a Down), EPMD, DJ Premier (Gang Starr), Z-Trip, Eek-A-Mouse, Murs, Barrington Levy, Bassnectar, Fishbone, Free The Robots, Flying Lotus, B-Side Players, Roots of Creation, Markus James, Look Daggers and Quinto Sol. While GCN radio personality, Jack Blood will also be a featured guest speaker.
Now in its third year, the “We the People” Festival has grown from its initial gathering in Watts, CA in 2006 with an audience of 4,000 people to the largest area of green land in downtown Los Angeles that can accommodate over 10,000 people. This revolutionary event will bring together people from all walks of life and will inspire attendees to realize that positive social reform on a global scale begins with “We the People.”
