YTC – Los Angeles – Concert List – 03/14/11 to 03/20/11
Mar 14th, 2011
Here are some of the shows that caught our attention for one reason or another. If you have any shows we should know about, please comment on this post so we can be in the know.
Monday, March 14th
I am sure this show will be an interesting one. For those of you who don’t know Peter Murphy, he was/is the lead singer of legendary goth rock group, Bauhaus. You never really know what will happen when a veteran artist hits L.A., but I have a feeling some all-time greats will drop by this show to kick it with Peter. Plus, the Mayan is a great spot to catch a show.
Tuesday, March 15th
I caught these guys a few years back and was more than impressed. They are full of talent and have a great stage presence. This show is sold-out, but def worth trying to find a ticket if you are a fan and interested in seeing a great band in a great venue.
Well, Dim Mak Tuesdays at Cinespace is finished, but the good folks at Dim Mak are bringing us a new Tuesday night party at their new space - the Dim Mak Studios. I am sure these parties will not disappoint. Dim Mak Studios is located a mere block from the Cinespace location.
Wednesday, March 16th
I haven’t seen Liz Phair before, but she has enough street cred to warrant checking her out.
Thursday, March 17th
I have seen these find folks a few times and they are impressive and know how to work the crowd. I think the tickets for this show are priced perfectly. Seeing these guys for $20 is deal.
Friday, March 18th
If there is one show this week that will make you get up and “Jump Around” it’s prob going to be House Of Pain. Cant beat a 90′s hip hop show on the Sunset Strip on a Friday night.
If you are looking to get funky, you wanna try and hit this show. George Clinton is what originally caught my attention, but then I found out the show was entitled “Funk – A – Palooza” and was more then impressed.
We have caught LA Riots a few times and there always seems to be a party when they play. I am sure Control will consist of its usual pandemonium, so if wild ‘n out is your thing, you might want to hit this one.
Saturday, March 19th
DJ Quik returns to the Key Club to once again boogie down. Quik’s shows are always vibe-y and a good time. Tickets start at $30, but the Key Club is once again having a buy 3 get 1 free promotion. Make sure to buy your tix in advance and save some money.
Its Devo! How could we leave them off this week’s concert list? Go get retro and rock out like it was the 1980′s! YA!
John Digweed is no doubt a staple in the electronic music world, and Avalon goes until 8am. If you do the math, it looks like it will be a pretty crazy night.
Sunday, March 20th
Dim Mak’s weekly Sunday night is always a good place to be on a Sunday. The event takes place at Drais which is on the roof of the W Hotel in Hollywood. In addition to kick-ass residence, this party constantly has special guests dropping by (Steve Aoki, Felix Da House Cat, Z-Trip, Etienne De Crecy) plus $5 beers and $7 cocktails all night long.
