YTC – Los Angeles – Concert List – 02/14/11 to 02/20/11
Feb 15th, 2011
Monday, February 14th
I know this show is kind of pricey, but can you think of a single thing your loved one would rather do on Valentines day? I can’t. Seriously, it’s Michael Bolton and Kenny G; you drop $111.80 on a ticket and take your lady friend to this one your def getting laid.
Yet another sexy V-Day show going on. This one is more reasonably priced, and is located next to some of LA’s finest restaurants
Tuesday, February 15th
Well, Dim Mak Tuesdays at Cinespace is finished, but the good folks at Dim Mak are bringing us a new Tuesday night party at their new space - the Dim Mak Studios. I am sure these parties will not disappoint. Dim Mak Studios is located a meer block from the Cinespace location.
Wednesday, February 16th
The first of two sold-out nights Beach House has at the Musicbox. I have yet to see these guys, but there is a lot of buzz around them, and hell, they sold out two nights at the Musicbox. They must be good. If you still don’t have a ticket and you have been dying to see these guys, why not give it a shot and see if you can find a ticket on the street? That’s what we would do anyways.
Henry Rollins will be performing 5 shows at Largo in celebration of his 50th birthday (February16th -20th) . I am not sure if these shows will consist of him preforming Black Flag songs or sticking to his spoken word show. My best guess, since the show is taking place at Largo, it will be a very chill and entertaining evening.
Thursday, February 17th
Llyod Banks All Star Kick Off @ The Key Club – West Hollywood,CA – $35 – 8pm – 18+
The first of four epic shows at the Key Club in celebration of All Star weekend. YTC will be in the house for this one for sure. I have wanted to see Llyod Banks for a minute, and I can’t think of a better place than the Key Club. Honestly, you never know who will drop on by the Key Club to join in. Hip-Hop fans - don’t you dare miss this one!
Everyone in town knows Dance Right at La Cita is the place to be on Thursday nights. This week is extra special, with performances by Kid Sister and, local act, Fools Gold. Make sure to RSVP and get there early, so you aren’t left out in the cold.
The second of two sold-out nights Beach House has at the Musicbox.
Friday, February 18th
The All Star weekend continues at the Key Club with one of our favorite hip-hop acts - Too Short. Every time I have seen Short Dogg, it has been nothing but legit. Last time he played the Key Club, he was joined by Michael Cera and Clark Duke in performing his classic song, “Two Bitches.” No telling who will join in on the party this time. Even if it’s just Short, this show isn’t one to miss.
The first of four SOLD OUT (February 18th-21st) shows Cake will be doing at the Troubadour. I love these guys and def hope to be able to catch at least one of these shows. All of the shows are currently SOLD OUT, but i bet if you keep your ear to the ground, you can manage to find a ticket.
Saturday, February 19th
The third night of the Key Club’s All Star weekend features none other then DJ Quik. The shows Quik does at the Key Club are always a blast and often feature a full band; worth catching, especially if you want to hear some classic hip-hop tracks.
The second of four SOLD OUT (February 18th-21st) shows Cake will be doing at the Troubadour. I love these guys and hope to be able to catch at least one of these shows. All of the shows are currently SOLD OUT, but i bet if you keep your ear to the ground, you can manage to find a ticket.
Pomona is out of our range, but this show is worth mentioning. Everyone in the YTC crew has seen Chromeo at least a few times and highly recommends catching these guys. Be prepared for dancing and getting down.
I am not much of an Enrique fan, but he has a few hits and I am sure the show has a high production value.
Sunday, February 20th
The 4th and final night of the Key Club’s All Star celebration features none other than Bobby Brown. I am sure this show will go off and be the perfect ending to an already perfect All Star weekend; + no work or school the next day.
Dim Mak’s weekly Sunday night is always a good place to be on a Sunday. The event takes place at Drais which is on the roof of the W Hotel in Hollywood. In addition to kick-ass residence, this party constantly has special guests dropping by (Steve Aoki, Felix Da House Cat, Z-Trip, Etienne De Crecy) plus $5 beers and $7 cocktails all night long.
If you are in the Eagle Rock area don’t miss your chance to see Ted Leo of Ted Leo And The Pharmacists in an intimate solo performance. I am sure this show will be one to remember.
