YTC – Los Angeles – Concert List – Week Ending in 01/15/11
Jan 9th, 2011
Category: Los Angeles, News
Second week of the new year and things are starting to heat up; a lot more shows going on this week compared to last. Here is a list of shows that caught our attention this week.
Dim Mak’s weekly Sunday night is all ways a good place to be on a Sunday. The event takes place at Drais which is on the roof of the W Hotel in Hollywood. In addition to kick ass residence, this party constantly has special guests dropping by (Steve Aoki, Felix Da House Cat, Z-Trip, Etienne De Crecy) plus $5 beers and $7 cocktails all night long.

Monday – January 10th
I hadn’t heard of either of these bands prior to this post. I noticed that GROUPLOVE was playing a residency at the Bootleg Theater during the month of January, so figured I’d give them a listen. I def dug their vibe and the Bootleg is a great place to catch a show. Catch them at this show or on the 17th or 24th of January.
GROUPLOVE – Colours
Tuesday – January 11th
Dim Mak’s weekly party is always a must for those who are down to get down. Dim Mak always brings in high quality DJs, so I am sure it will be a fun night. Open well bar from 10-11pm.
This is the second night of Olin & The Moon “Foot Steps” album release residency @ The Echo. Drop on by if you are down for a good time and hearing some good local bands.
Wednesday – January 12th
Yet another band I haven’t listened to on this list! This show caught my attention because Super Good Music talks about these guys all the time, so I figured it’s probably something worth checking out.
Thursday – January 13th
Reasons I won’t be going to this show:
1. Its Boyz II Men ( I respect them for their incredible musicianship, but am not a fan)
2. Its in Agoura Hills (way out of my bubble).
I do, however, have to suggest this show to any dudes in the Agoura Hills area that have a girl to take and want to get some. Chicks dig getting down to some Boyz II Men.
A friend mentioned Plan B to me, so I decided to check them out, and it’s some good stuff. Plan B was the UK’s #1 selling artist of 2010 so getting to this show at the Troub should be a darn good time.
Friday – January 14th
Haven’t heard from these guys in a while. It’s been 12 years since their last tour, so 90′s rock fans shouldn’t miss this one.
If you love big booty anthems, then DJ Funk is the place for you to be Friday night.
Saturday – January 15th
A friend mentioned this show to me. Lissie was voted Paste Magazines #1 solo artist of 2010 and gained a lot of attention this year from her cover of the Kid Cudi song, ” Pursuit Of Happiness.”
Well, those are all the shows that for some reason or another caught my attention this week. I am sure I missed tons of killer shows so comment and let us know what you are getting into. -lorn
