Second week of the new year and things are starting to heat up; a lot more shows going on this week compared to last.  Here is a list of shows that caught our attention this week.

Sunday – January 9th

Dim Mak Presents Cannonball Sundays w/  Thee Mike B, Fashen and  Dj Metric, @ Drais – Hollywood,CA Free with RSVP 21+

Dim Mak’s weekly Sunday night is all ways a good place to be on a Sunday. The event takes place at Drais which is on the roof of the W Hotel in Hollywood.  In addition to kick ass residence, this party constantly has special guests dropping by (Steve Aoki, Felix Da House Cat,  Z-Trip,  Etienne De Crecy) plus $5 beers and $7 cocktails all night long.

Monday – January 10th

GROUPLOVE  w/ White Arrows @ The Bootleg Theater – 2220 Beverly Blvd. (Across from Brooklyn Bagel)  – Free – 9pm

I hadn’t heard of either of these bands prior to this post.  I noticed that GROUPLOVE was playing a residency at the Bootleg Theater during the month of January, so figured I’d give them a listen. I def dug their vibe and the Bootleg is a great place to catch a show.  Catch them at this show or on the 17th or 24th of January.
GROUPLOVE – Colours

Tuesday – January 11th

Dim Mak Tuesday  APL.DE.AP  w/  Fashen, Them Jeans and DAN OH @ Cinespace – Hollywood,CA – 5$ with RSVP

Dim Mak’s weekly party is always a must for those who are down to get down.  Dim Mak always brings in high quality DJs, so I am sure it will be a fun night.  Open well bar from 10-11pm.

Olin & The Moon w/ Paulie Pesh/The Silent Comedy and Bingo @ Echo @ The Echo – Echopark,CA  – Free 21+ 7$ for those under 8:30pm

This is the second night of  Olin & The Moon “Foot Steps” album release residency @ The Echo. Drop on by if you are down for a good time and hearing some good local bands.

Wednesday – January 12th

Foster The People @ The Echo – Echopark,CA  – Free 21+  830pm

Yet another band I haven’t listened to on this list!  This show caught my attention because Super Good Music talks about these guys all the time, so I figured it’s probably something worth checking out.

Thursday – January 13th

Boyz II Men @ The Canyon Club – Agoura Hills – 38.50$ – 8:30pm

Reasons I won’t be going to this show:

1. Its Boyz II Men ( I respect them for their incredible musicianship, but am not a fan)

2. Its in Agoura Hills (way out of my bubble).

I do, however, have to suggest this show to any dudes in the Agoura Hills area that have a girl to take and want to get some. Chicks dig getting down to some Boyz II Men.

Plan B @ The Troubadour 15$-  8:00pm

A friend mentioned Plan B to me, so I decided to check them out, and it’s some good stuff. Plan B was the UK’s #1 selling artist of 2010 so getting to this show at the Troub should be a darn good time.

Plan B – Free

Friday – January 14th

Toad The Wet Sprocket @ The Key Club – Hollywood, CA – $25 – 8:00pm

Haven’t heard from these guys in a while. It’s been 12 years since their last tour, so 90′s rock fans shouldn’t miss this one.

Toad The Wet Sprocket – Instant Karma (John Lennon cover)

DJ Funk w/Frankie Vega @ Vanguard – Hollywood,CA – 17.76$ – advanced tix – 10pm – 21+

If you love big booty anthems, then DJ Funk is the place for you to be Friday night.

Saturday – January 15th

Lissie w/ The Pierces & George Stanford @ The Music Box – Hollywood,CA – 29.65@ – 9pm

A friend mentioned this show to me.  Lissie was voted Paste Magazines #1 solo artist of 2010 and gained a lot of attention this year from her cover of the Kid Cudi song, ” Pursuit Of Happiness.”

Well, those are all the shows that for some reason or another caught my attention this week.  I am sure I missed tons of killer shows so comment and let us know what you are getting into. -lorn
